  • User Description: One of the funniest films of all time, Man With a Van is a hilarious follow-up to the financial disaster Argyll as well as Costello's Christmas masterpiece It's a Wonderful Life. With the same sort of inscrutable American innocence that defined the previous film, Russell Brand plays the Van Man, the eponymous Van Man, a man who travels back in time to the present day New York City, where he falls in love with a young lady who works in a theater. However, instead of helping her, he chooses to run off with her to help him save his struggling business... But are they able to save their own marriage or could Van Man destroy his family and livelihood in the process? If your mind is flooded with images of Michael Caine, you probably imagine the actor in his most recognizable scenes of A Few Good Men, where he portrays a bad guy who's about to get executed by the authorities. In Man With a Van, though, Caine plays Robert "Bob" Wurzelbacher, a honest former moving truck driver who has the experience to manage people's possessions and the Van Man himself. As the movie progresses, we get to know more about the eccentric man, who is able to have quite a good time doing it. He also gets away with his own cousin after being informed that authorities would like to inspect his trucks. When two people who are from the other side of the country decide to stop at his home, things go from bad to worse.Brand plays the role of the man who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty literally. After letting two movers make a quick exit from his house, he gets his own truck to handle the remainder of the job. The two movers are awed by his ability to get the job done quickly and effortlessly, and even allowing the two trucks he employs to move his belongings to break some laws (one being related to the dimensions of the fronts vehicle). When they offer to help him out, Bob realizes that he has a lot more going on throughout his day than he thought. But despite all of that, he's still dedicated to helping people and improving the lives of other people. In the meantime, a troubled teenager named Beth is having a hard transitioning to her new life. She's always being targeted and is also disoriented about her experiences and what she's likely to become in this new city. She shares with her family the story of moving from the city to Man With a Van, but they doubt her tales and soon she becomes frightened of the place. Two movers from earlier help her out of a tight spot when they discover Bob's involvement with the move. The two of them are able to save Beth and make her feel safe in the new place. In the end, Bob develops feelings for the local girl. Beth starts working together, and they eventually fall in love. Then, the unthinkable happens and their relationship is put on hold because Bob is fired from his position at newscorp.I would highly recommend this book to someone who has had a similar experience to Bob. It's an excellent read due to the fact that it's realistic and real. It's not a romantic tale like many books, but it's filled with excitement and valuable lessons. It's not your usual emotional read, neither. There's Man and Van .I would recommend this book to anyone who loves funny situations, and also enjoys thrilling plots. If that sounds like your situation, this book is surely a book worth taking the time to read. My personal favorite was the moment the time that Bob and Beth decided to live in the van of one of their friends. The whole experience made me laugh out loud numerous times. I'd also like to say that the plot was enthralling. I had no major problems with the plot or the characters and I was captivated from beginning to end.Overall, this was a great book. It's a realistic read and I think readers would strongly recommend it. Anyone who loves to travel and are interested in adventure and just want to see the way other people handle life in a humorous kind of way should absolutely read Man With a Van by Paul Therien. It's a fast and enjoyable read that has a great storyline.
