Social distancing tips brought about in response to the pandemic made the traditional operation of a simulation centre with limited ground area impossible. To continue providing training to a greater number of candidates, methods for recreating the simulation experience with distant candidates have been devised and explored:A: Conversational avatar over Zoom.Using streaming software program, our pre-current conversational avatar is offered on a Zoom name for conversational simulation with distant candidates.B: Gameplay type scenarios on CenarioVR.Candidates navigate a clinical room environment with buttons and menus to undertake a scenario. The system tracks inputs to progress the situation.C: Distant In-Ear (RIE) coaching.Using a wireless earbud, candidates talk remotely with centre employees (‘operatives’) who observe the directions given by candidates watching a dwell Zoom feed. 3 variations have been explored:C1: Candidates remotely watch the feed whereas related to an operative by an audio call.C2: Candidates message their goal operative on Zoom and textual content-to-speech software program reads these messages to the operatives.C3: Zoom breakout rooms/separate WhatsApp video calls connect candidates to focus on operatives, the place candidates see from the operative’s perspective by means of a head-mounted camera.D: Virtual environmentsD1: Private Worlds inside VRChat host situations.D2: GOSH’s Minecraft server hosts situations.Proposals were scored 0-10 in: Team Interactivity, Fidelity, Vary of Scenarios and Ease of Implementation. Summed total scores have been:C3=32, C1=29, C2=27, A=26, B=20, D1=19, D2=10Up to now, probably the most viable options have been trialled.Avatar use over Zoom proved simple to set up and programs using it are planned.RIE coaching’s trial periods had operatives reporting communication inefficiencies. In response, the mannequin was revised: the wider group now coaches the whole room over Zoom.Gameplay eventualities are nonetheless below construction.
