I downloaded MC off the official website. When I attempt to run the Launcher Installer, it appears and it says "Making things amazing" and the progress bar isn't moving. I tried closing it and restarting it. I've also tried closing it and then reopening it. minecraft names If that doesn't work, I'm trying Java edition. The new launcher (released Nov 2) has unresolved issues for a number of players. If you own the game, and are not connected to GamePass, download/install the Windows 7/8 launcher. It's the launcher we've been using for years. (Link) If you want to prevent the upgrade nag, simply click the old launcher shortcut and set compatibility to Windows 8 on the Compatibility tab. you are a life saver! I downloaded it, but it didn't install. I experienced the same issue like the guy who posted this. It worked! PS Note: Scroll down the link to view a launcher for Windows 7/8.
