  • User Description: This is yet another "cant' set up a Minecraft server" post ... Hoping someone will be able to help. The server works on my machine but it does not work on his. Our computers are wired via Ethernet cable directly to ASUS RT–AC86U router. Minecraft servers The IP address of his local computer in the United States is 192.168.50.166. These are the settings for port forwarding: Service Name Minecraft Source IP (blank). Port Range 2565 Local IP: 192.168.50.166 Port: 25565 TCP: BOTH When he plays Minecraft on his personal computer and directly connects to 192.168.50.166 and connects. If the user enters an external IP (obtained via the "Network Map" page of the router settings) it will return the error: Failed to connect to the server io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information If I try to connect my computer to 192.168.50.166, I get exactly the same error message from Minecraft. But here's the kicker ... Everything works if I run the server on my computer (192.168.50.48) and modify the Local IP port forward settings in line with the settings. I can connect to the Minecraft server with either my local IP or an external IP.
