  • User Description: More than ten years after its release, a rare early version of Minecraft was believed to be lost. Minecraft Alpha 1.1.1 was released in September 2010 for the first time as the Java Edition. It was only available for three hours. Gaming historians have found it again. There have been hundreds of versions of Minecraft over the years and fans have meticulously preserved and archived the majority of them for the sake preservation. However, one particular version, Alpha 1.1.1 or Seecret Saturday, was thought completely lost. It introduced fishing rods and infiltrating into Minecraft. However, it was found to have a game-breaking bug which would make the screen completely gray. Version 1.1.2 was released within hours. @lunasorcery on Kotaku, told the whole story of its rediscovery on Twitter. As Luna says the story, Alpha 1.1.1 had become a meme or even a holy grail of the Minecraft archiving Discord Omniarchive and nobody would have expected to discover it. Someone stumbled across one of Luna's old tweets and asked her about it, and she discovered an old backup of minecraft.jar that was the same date as Alpha 1.1.1's release date of September 18 in 2010. Luna checked the file and confirmed that it was Alpha 1.1.1 which she later posted about on Omniarchive - which blew up.MINECRAFT SERVERS So I put my message on the Omniarchive server, and it would be an understatement to say that a few people reacted. The reactions are enough to show how huge this find is. I feel like I'm shaking.
